Although all you loyal readers know that I am not a fan of religion in any shape or form, there are some methods of worship that I find more agreeable than others.
Spirituality is a form of religion I can handle, since it sidesteps most human preconceptions of what God and the Divine are, and focuses instead on personal development and moral actions.
Next would come Buddhism, since they are the most enlightened and peaceful of the mainstream religions, and this would be followed in quick succession by Christianity, Judaism, Wicca and then the Muslim faith.
Islam comes second last in our list since it's a lot of work with all that praying five times a day, and it also seems hostile to most other religions.
But!
There are things far worse than organized religion kids, and they're not very nice!Durham, N.C. — A Durham couple whose crimes were linked to Satan worship pleaded to misdemeanor charges and will serve probation, a defense attorney said.
Well!
A 2008 Durham case marked by sensational accounts of Satanism and sadomasochism appears to have wound to a close with best-interest misdemeanor pleas by a man first charged with rape and kidnapping, and by a woman charged with letting those crimes happen.
Joseph Scott Craig, his wife, Joy Johnson, 30, and Dianna Palmer, 44, of Cottage Woods Court, were charged last year after a man and a woman told police they were beaten, shackled to beds, kept in dog cages and starved inside a home on Albany Street.
Prosecutors said the victims met Craig through a shared interest in Satan worship, but that they never consented to physical abuse.
Durham defense attorney Woody Vann said the pleas were entered and approved Nov. 17 in Superior Court. The action brought an apparent end to a case that included testimony that defendants and victims lived in the same house, brought together by a mutual interest in Satanism.
“The evidence doesn’t support a criminal conviction,” Vann said Friday. “We had adults involved in consensual activities, and they didn’t make any effort to report these to law enforcement until months later.”
They got a slap on the wrist eh?
Listen folks, I might not like religion, but I absolutely hate and gladly rant against any sort of Satan worship because it runs contrary to everything we humans are trying to achieve in this world.
Things like common decency, honesty, character, grace and a list of attributes almost too numerous to mention!
We are trying to pull the human race out of the mud kids, and what this blasphemy does is throw us right back in!
So!
When we see something like this: “The evidence doesn’t support a criminal conviction,” Vann said Friday. “We had adults involved in consensual activities," that might well be true........... but they are certainly damned from a moral point of view!
