By itobin53 On Monday, Mother Jones posted part one of a video of Mitt Romney at a meeting with wealthy campaign donors on May 17, 2012. In it, Romney described nearly half of the US population as “dependent on the government,” and think of themselves as “victims.” But the most shocking part of the video was in Romney’s admission that he has no real plans to do anything to create jobs. “Romney, who spoke confidently throughout the event and seemed quite at ease with the well-heeled group, insisted that his election in and of itself would lead to economic growth,” According to Mother Jones. In the video, Romney put it this way: “If it looks like I’m going to win, the markets will be happy… We’ll see capital come back and we’ll see—without actually doing anything—we’ll actually get a boost in the economy.” Mr. Romney’s remarks indicated that he was more interested in the stock market than he was in doing anything to help the country. This stance was reinforced when he added that 47 percent of the population “believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it…These are people who pay no income tax…My job is not to worry about those people.” For seniors who depend on Medicare and Social Security, Mr. Romney’s remarks in the video contradict much of what he has been saying on the campaign trail. His comments also suggest that he has no interest in the poor, disabled, children of working class families, or anyone else who does not have the financial means to be completely self-sufficient. Romney also made some startling remarks about his wife, Ann, saying he only wanted to use her in his campaign “sparingly…so people don’t get tired of her.” It all leads to the questions that many have been asking: Who is the real Mitt Romney, and why does he really want to be president? “Here was Romney raw and unplugged—sort of unscripted. With this crowd of fellow millionaires, he apparently felt free to utter what he really believes and would never dare say out in the open,” Mother Jones added. The secret video of Mitt Romney confirms what many already believed – that the 2012 Republican nominee for president does not care about the poor or middle class, and has no real plans to help the economy, protect Medicare, Social Security, or any other government program intended to help most of the American people. In an interview on MSNBC on Monday, David Corn of Mother Jones said additional videos of Mr. Romney at his Boca Raton, Florida, fundraising meeting will be released tomorrow.
