Dear Readers;
I don’t go over to the States any more, and there are several reasons for this.
First and foremost my passport expired and I won’t renew it just to get across a border where they didn’t even ask me for I.D. twenty years ago.
On top of that, even though there are a lot of similarities between Canada and The States, there are some differences that scare the shit out of me.
First, a lot of people walk around with guns down there …………., and a lot of people belong to ‘Militia’s’ where they run around in the woods during their spare time and pretend to be at war with the government.
Not good!
Second, their laws are Draconian, as Conrad Black can tell you, and penalties for just about anything are a lot harsher than up here.
On top of that, while the U.S. has just 5% of the world population, they now have over 22% of all the incarcerated people on the planet!
(Those S.O.B.s are turning the penal system into big business!)
Add to that the fact that they spend more on the military than the rest of the world combined, and the government is at war with other countries on a constant basis, and it just doesn’t seem like a safe place to me anymore!.
(There aren’t but a handful of years where the Americans haven’t been at war with somebody or other …………….., and that includes us!)
