A bunch of people we knew were going downtown (Toronto) to the Grey Cup game while the rest of us stayed at home to watch the game on TV.
After it was over and everybody had gathered at the house again, (this was about 20 people) one of the guys insisted we watch the 11:00 news.
There, right off the top of the news, was a guy swinging on a chandelier in the main lobby of the Royal York Hotel.
“Jesus Christ,” I said. “Who would do something like that?”
“That was me,” said a very drunk ‘what’s-his-name!’
(To this day we still don’t know how he got up there, but I do remember that the lights hung a lot lower then!)
