Canadians are in store for a
typical fall with extended stretches of fair weather and bouts of
wetness, according to one of the country’s leading forecasters.
The Weather Network, which released its forecast for September,
October and November on Tuesday, predicts a normal season with an
expected wide range of temperatures as the country transitions into
winter.

Jon and Kate plus lawsuit. On Monday, Aug. 26, Kate Gosselin filed a lawsuit against ex-husband Jon Gosselin, alleging he hacked into her computer and phone and stole her hard drive.
The Associated Press reports that Kate, 38, claims in the federal lawsuit that Jon, 36, accessed private information for the book, Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World, written by Robert Hoffman, who is Jon’s friend and business partner.
“Jon violated a federal anti-hacking statute in order to publish salacious, scandalous and defamatory information about Kate,” said Kate’s lawyer A. Jordan Rushie. “It’s damaged her reputation.”

Pussy tales……………………, The 15.4-kilogram kitty was left at the SPCA in Moncton, N.B., last week by its owner. (That’s 35 pounds, kids!)
The shelter’s executive director, Karen Nelson, says Michelin is so
large, he is under the care of a veterinarian who is monitoring his
health daily.
Nelson says Michelin is exercising and eating a special diet, and has already dropped a bit of weight, but not before trashing the building!
MEANWHILE: Residents of a northeast Detroit neighborhood have been cautious when venturing out on their local streets because a huge hissing cat has been spotted roaming the area for a month.
Matt Bruzek, Director of the organization, identified the breed saying, “It’s a Savannah cat. They’re bred with an African Serval and a domestic cat and depending on how far down the breeding chain they are they can be fairly wild.”
Laura Wilhelm-Bruzek added, “My guess is someone had it that wasn’t familiar with the breed. Thought it was a really cool thing to have. Decided it wasn’t for whatever reason, and threw it outside.”

It looks like there will be a race for the deputy mayor’s job in St. John’s after all.
Transgender activist Jennifer/James McCreath filed nomination papers on Tuesday.
Ron Ellsworth has so far been the only declared candidate for the position. Shannie Duff, the current deputy mayor, is retiring from politics after the Sept. 24 election.
Last week, McCreath said she was dropping plans to run for council because she could not find enough people willing to sign her nomination papers
On her blog, McCreath wrote that she discovered “the harsh reality, that not even [my] closest friends are willing or able to step forward and publicly nominate [me].”

It’s going to be another sweltering day in most of Manitoba.
Environment Canada has issued a humidex advisory for most of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Steinbach, Whiteshell, Brandon and Killarney.
The agency said the hot and humid airmass that has settled in over
southern Manitoba will once again cause humidex values to climb Tuesday
afternoon, making it feel like 40 C.
MEANWHILE: Come back and see us in six months when it will feel like MINUS 40 C.

Relatives of an Ohio
couple who died at a nursing home 11 hours apart on the same day said
their love story’s ending reflects their devotion over 65 years of
marriage.
Harold and Ruth Knapke died in their shared room on Aug. 11, days before their 66th anniversary, The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/16KBNAJ ) reported. He was 91, she was 89.
