Engineers in Italy have succeeded in setting the cruise ship Costa Concordia upright, 20 months after it ran aground off the island of Giglio.

They said that the unprecedented salvage effort “reached degree zero [vertical], which was our target”.
In the operation that took all of Monday and most of the night, they used cables and metal water tanks to roll the ship onto a platform.
Officials are quoted as saying that the ill-fated cruise is set to continue as soon as they do a “bit of cleaning up!”

A Boston homeless man turned over to police a backpack stuffed with nearly $42,000 worth of cash and travelers checks shortly after he found it at a shopping mall, police said on Monday.
The man, identified by police as Glen James, found the bag Saturday evening at the South Bay Mall in the Boston neighborhood of Dorchester.
James was given a special citation from Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis on Monday afternoon “for his extraordinary show of character and honesty,” the police department said.
Meanwhile, his common-law wife, and all his friends,  have told him to take the citation……………………, and shove it up his ass!
