Everybody's nuts except you, me, and Bernie Sanders!

(And sometimes I'm not so sure about you!)

Bernie Sanders is my HERO!

As any regular reader of this blog knows, your humble reporter does not like certain things about the United States of America very much!

Now don't get me wrong kids, for a lot of reasons it's still the greatest country in the world and is the envy of a good portion of the human population ......, and they're all trying to get there.

But!

There are also  a lot of things that go on down there such as  their gun culture, wild west capitalism, certain aspects of their political makeup such as Militia's and the Tea Party, general all round ignorance of a large percentage of the population, religious extremism, rap music, etc. etc. etc. blah, blah, blah, and all that other stuff which we used to blame on "The Ugly American" that quite simply scares the shit out of me! 

One prime example of this mindset down in the United States is their tendency to throw more people in jail than any other country in the world.

The U.S. has 5% of the world population, and 25% of it's prisoners! (And let's not get started about the tendency of cops in the States to stop motorists and shake them down for any cash they have on them!)

Why, you ask, do they have a larger percentage of people in jail than anywhere else in the World? Simply because the U.S. has a private, for profit, prison system, and that means the more people get thrown in jail ......, the more money the prisons make! (And don't for a minute think that they aren't bribing prosecutors, judges, and the entire judicial system to put people behind bars! The more prisoners they have, the more money they make!) 

Nope, we have to face facts and conclude that certain aspect of American society are totally corrupt.

But ....., as usual with the United States, there is always a ray of sunshine on the horizon.

Bernie Sanders, one of the voices of sanity in the current U.S. presidential race, has stated that he will do away with the 'for profit' prison system within three years!

If nothing else, it's a start folks ......, it's a start!

(P.S. I'll say it again, if they want to immediately improve the United States a thousand percent, just do away with political lobbyists!)
