Since I have a whole bunch of relatives on my wife's side over in Scotland I read this headline with a bit of trepidation: "Scotland set for the hottest summer in 40 years as experts predict three months of sunshine!"
Apparently they have had a couple of weeks of hot and sunny weather already because of Global Warming, so there have been widespread reports of anxiety and discomfort at the unusual, and even unnatural weather.
The National Health Service has issued an advisory against going out in the sun for any extended period of time since most Scots are not used to these types of conditions, and went so far as to caution people that if the hot, sunny weather persists there could be widespread hospitalizations for heat stroke, and even deaths among the elderly and infirm. (The last time conditions were like this was back in the Great European Heat Wave and Drought of 1540 when hundreds of Scots fell victim to the weather and dropped like flies on the streets of Glasgow)
The NHS has assured the population that measures have been taken to avoid a repeat of that calamity!
