I was looking at some articles about pipelines today and kept running into the term "adequate consultations" when they talked about bringing the Indians into the discussion of where and how the pipelines should go.
This would be all well and fine with me if everyone was talking about environmental effects and what's good for everyone involved, but the more I read, the more I began to realize that "adequate consultations" was just a handy "political-speak" for "adequate MONEY!"
Basically what this all boils down to is bribing the Indians to get them to shut up and not make waves kids!
While we're on the subject of Indians I also saw THIS article, but it turns out these weren't the 'bow and arrow' Indians, but rather the 'tech support' ones!
A 20-year-old Dalit student in Rohtak was allegedly gang-raped this week by three men who had earlier raped her in 2013. The family alleged that the woman was gang-raped again because they did not reach a compromise settlement despite repeated threats from the accused. They also said that the men gang-raped her again to ‘punish’ her for not accepting an out-of-court settlement for the first time.Folks I'm having a hard time deciding which culture, the East Indians or the Arabs, are the biggest on gang-rape ..., but so far they seem to be tied!
Now don't think I'm just going off on a tangent by saying nasty things about Arabs again ........., we just heard on the news that a seventeen year old refugee from Afghanistan went nuts on a train in Germany and started yelling "God is Great" while he hacked up passengers with an axe!
If you think that dinosaurs roared like in the movie Jurassic Park you might be surprised to learn that scientists now think that they probably chirped like modern birds do!
Were a dinosaur to vocalize in defense of its territory — or as a mating call — it might have sounded like one of today’s birds, scientists say. In fact, a journal article published online Monday argues that the ancient reptiles made sounds closer to the coo of a pigeon or the mumble of an ostrich. Those are far cries from mammalian screams.
According to the new research, dino sounds may be what scientists call “closed-mouth vocalizations.” Unlike the high-pitched chirps and tweets from the open beaks of songbirds, the closed-mouth sounds are low, throaty whooshes of air. A flesh sac called an esophageal pouch enables birds with proportionally large bodies — think pigeons or doves — to produce the low murmurs.
BUT, it seems some of them sounded a lot like modern dogs! -Ed.
