Allan's Perspective is not recommended for the politically correct, or the overly religious! (Some people have opinions, and some have convictions ..., what we offer is Perspective!)
My wife is right, I am anal retentive...., so now I keep a can of WD-40 next to the toilet! (Sometimes I feel like I'm just a bobble-head on the highway of life!)

Put your head between your knees and kiss your ........!
Please remember these two names because they both saved not only your life, but the life of everyone you know!
Our first hero is Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov, who was an officer on a Russian Submarine during the Cuban Missile Crises! The submarine was being depth charged and the captain was about to launch a tactical nuclear weapon at a U.S. ship to make them stop.
The only problem was that he needed the his other two senior officers to go along with the decision to destroy a U.S. navy ship and Vasili figured that the depth charges weren't meant to sink them, but were rather small charges to force the sub to the surface.
Vasili finally convinced the captain that they would be better off surfacing without being aggressive, and this action undoubtedly saved the world from a nuclear war!
The second guy, Stanislav Petrov was on duty at a Russian radar station during the height of the cold was in 1983 when he suddenly saw five U.S. missiles being launched and coming towards the Soviet Union.
There was only one problem, if the States was really going to war with a first strike they would use a lot more than five missiles ........, there would probably be dozens, if not hundreds, so the whole thing didn't add up!
Rather than report the missiles, which would have unleashed an immediate counter attack, Stanislav informed high command that there was a technical problem with the radar, (there was!) AND WORLD WAR III WAS AVOIDED!
Everyone on the planet owes their life to these two guys and they should have a lot more recognition than they do!
