It's a gay life on Coronation Street, folks!

To whom it may concern:

Well kids, now that gays have made it into the mainstream of society there is a push on to make transgenders, or transsexuals, more acceptable to the straight community, as witnessed by the overt glorification of the gender benders during last weekends Emmy Awards!

Ever since gays first came out of the closet starting in the sixties I have been aware of their subtle efforts to make themselves more acceptable to the average Joe on the street, and for the most part I would agree with their attempts to end discrimination and vilification of their cause.

But, lately there has been a certain amount of overkill in their attempts to not only blend in, but actually flaunt their sexuality as we now see in in things like the Toronto Pride Parade ....,which has degenerated into nothing but an obscene spectacle of lewdness and debauchery.

I have a lot of gay friends and never thought I would start to hold these views as I got older, but the straw that broke the camels back was on a BBC program (Coronation Street) that my wife watches every day, where one of the main characters was an openly gay guy called Shawn.

Now Shawn was about as openly queer as you could get, and everybody liked him as a character because he always got himself into interesting situations with his many relationships that often provided a counterpoint to some other heavier stories in the show!

The problem is that about a year ago they hired a new Producer (that I heard is also queer) and suddenly we have not one or two gays on the show, but about seven or eight ....., with their relationships taking up over half of the story lines!

I guess the one scene that got the most viewers upset was when the 'gay' minister had a hot and heavy kissing scene with one of the other characters and started grossing out all the old ladies that religiously watch that show! (Pardon the pun!)

Anyway, my point is that if you're gay ...., that's O.K.  Just don't throw your agenda in my face every time I turn around. (Maybe they should change the name to "Gay Street!")

And to show you just how attitudes have changed, back in the fifties and sixties nobody thought of Liberace as gay ..........., just a very flamboyant showman!!!!!
