I didn't really know anything about politics until J.F.K. got assassinated, but even then my interest was so-so until Tricky Dick Nixon got into the White House.
Oh, there was trouble even before that with his famous "Checkers" speech when he was Vice-President under Eisenhower, (This was a harbinger of things to come!) but the shit really hit the fan with Watergate, and it also makes the Nixon Administration the only government to have both the Vice-President (Spiro Agnew) and the President resign in shame.
Since then Gerald Ford was only known for falling down a lot, and Jimmy Carter was as pure as the driven snow! (Although Jimmy's brother Billy provided us with countless amusement.)
Things didn't really take another nasty turn until the Iran-Contra affair under Reagan, which he only managed to get out of with his "aw, shucks" apology.
Perhaps the biggest screwing of the American public up until that date was the Reagan administration's "Tickle Down" theory of economics which is best described in the photo!!!!
The first George Bush administration was fairly benign but next came Billy-Boy Clinton, who the Republicans hounded for years with the Ken Star Investigations about phony issues such as Whitewater, and only managed to get him for lying about getting a blow job while in the White_house.
Where it turned nasty again it was "Bush the Successor" who got the States into a dirty, phony and dangerous war with Iraq and disrupted the Middle-East to such an extent that we still feel the after-effects today.
Obama was a rather benign President again except for that "red line" business with Syria, but then we get into six months of Don the Con Trumplethinskin and it's just been one giant clusterfuck since!!!!
It's like I said folks, the Republicans are now willing to let over 20 million citizens lose their health insurance just so they can give some tax breaks to the 1%.
If that's not evil ....., it is sure nasty!
