Abolish the U.N. - Body OK's call to curb religious criticism!

The call to abolish freedom of speech is the thin wedge of a religious war on civilization!

There is a reason the United States of America is reluctant to pay their U.N. dues, and that is because this organization has been hijacked by third world countries and extreme left wing ideologies.

We commented on the upcoming Durban 11 conference last week and how the politics and policies of the U.N. is one of the greatest threats to freedom of speech and the spread of religious hypocrisy the World has ever seen.
I'M NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS FOLKS. WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM HERE, AND UNLESS SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT IT, MODERN CIVILIZATION IS IN DANGER OF BEING OVERTHROWN BY A RELIGIOUS FANATICISM THAT WILL SEND US BACK INTO THE DARK AGES.
(If you don't believe me consider this. The last Dark Age [About 500-1500 A.D.) hindered our scientific and cultural advancement for about a thousand years. This means that if it had not occurred, we might now be exploring the stars!)

Both AP News and "The Religious News Blog" have extensive articles on this subject this weekend and I would like to add some of my own thoughts to the discussion as well.
GENEVA (AP) — The U.N.’s top human-rights body approved a proposal by Muslims nations Thursday urging passage of laws around the world to protect religion from criticism.
Now this, in and of itself, does not seem so radical or threatening.

That is until we take a closer look at it!
In the name of Islam countless Muslims use any and every opportunity to stage violent protests, issue death threats, destroy property, murder, and commit other acts of terrorism. They go nuts (yes, nuts) over cartoons and teddy bears, while they generally keep quiet over acts of terrorism and other human rights violations committed by fellow members of their so-called ‘religion of peace.’
(And now they expect people not to utter any form of criticism!)

The proposal put forward by Pakistan on behalf of Islamic countries — with the backing of Belarus and Venezuela — had drawn strong criticism from free-speech campaigners and liberal democracies around the world.

A simple majority of 23 members of the 47-nation Human Rights Council voted in favor of the resolution.

Eleven nations, mostly Western, opposed the resolution, and 13 countries abstained.

Opponents of the resolution included Canada, all European Union countries, Switzerland, Ukraine and Chile.

“It is individuals who have rights and not religions,” Canadian diplomat Terry Cormier said.

India, which normally votes along with the council’s majority of developing nations, abstained in protest at the fact that Islam was the only religion specifically named as deserving protection.

The United States did not vote on the resolution because it is not a member of that particular council.
The resolution urges states to provide “protection against acts of hatred, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation of religions and incitement to religious hatred in general.”

Muslim nations have argued that religions, in particular Islam, must be shielded from criticism in the media and other areas of public life. They cited cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad as an example of unacceptable free speech.
Do you remember that quote from my book "The Plain Truth About God" where I said; Tell people something enough times, and with enough conviction, they will believe just about anything!“ Well kids, here is the perfect example: The resolution said; "Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism,”

(What a pile of crap. It's so high I can't even see over it! -ED.)

These are the comments from "The Religious News Blog;"
In the resolution it adopted yesterday on the defamation of religions, the United Nations Human Rights Council has yet again demonstrated its inability to defend the values enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Reporters Without Borders said.

“The Council had just dealt a severe blow to the freedom of expression it is supposed to defend,” the press freedom organisation said. “By approving a resolution that seeks to suppress criticism of Islam, this UN body has once again shown that it is incapable of defending human rights effectively.

“This resolution is outrageous. On the grounds of combating discrimination, it assails the news media for the ‘targeting of religious symbols’ and ‘sacred persons,’ especially those of Islam.

In other words, the UN is asking the media to stop criticising Islam in the name of combating incitement to religious hatred. This is unacceptable to all those who feel strongly about the defence of free expression.”
Reporters Without Borders added : “The UN is on a slippery slope that poses a danger for freedom of opinion. All the freedoms must be defended with equal strength. It is not acceptable for the UN to take such an extreme stand in defence of one freedom at the expense of another. It goes against all of the UN’s fundamental principles.”

A Durban II conference will be held on 20-24 April in Geneva.

You haven't heard the last of this by a long shot!

-Allan; Comment?-are you sure any comment is really in need, indeed???

-Allan; The UN needs to be taken a part. It is useless. America needs to leave everyone else to their own issues and focus on ours. We need to stop giving money to everyone (as its not in the constitution that they can) and fix US. Focus on US. Solve OUR problems FIRST.
