A Texas legislator is waging war against the science and education communities in the Lone Star State.
He is fighting to introduce a bill that would allow a private school that teaches Creationism to grant a Master of Science degree in the subject.
State Rep. Leo Berman (R-Tyler-->) proposed House Bill 2800 when he learned that a private institution that specializes in the education and research of biblical creationism, was not able to receive a certificate of authority from Texas' Higher Education Coordinating Board to grant Master of Science degrees.
Berman's bill would allow private, non-profit educational institutions to be exempt from the board’s authority.
HB 2800 does not specifically name ICR; it would allow any institution that meets its criteria to be exempt from the board's authority.
But Berman says ICR was the inspiration for the bill because he feels creationism is as scientific as evolution and should be granted equal weight in the educational community.
The only debate now is whether he's stupid because he's a far right conservative, or a far right conservative because he's stupid!

News from the Pentagon this afternoon that shows they are not too worried about North Korea's claim to have a rocket that can fire missles capable of reaching the United States.
A spokesman was quoted as saying that Fearless Leader Kim Jong-ill's claim to have rockets capable of travelling over 6,000 km. is likely the result of the man's drug use since he is obviously not in his right mind.
<--As proof of North Korea's limited capabilities, the Pentagon released this picture of Pyongyang's latest version of a mobile rocket launcher!

As a sure sign of these tough economic times we get this word from CNN that Nicole Thompson-Arce and her new husband Mathew have moved in with her old ex-husband Craig! That's right, once again you heard it here first! Now we here at Perspective have witnessed many cases of kids moving back in with their parents, and parents moving in with their kids, but this arrangement has got to be few and far between! When she and Craig Thompson, 42, were going through a divorce in 2005, this was not a deal either of them could have imagined striking. It was a messy divorce, the kind involving a custody dispute. But, once they ironed out that battle, agreeing to joint custody, Thompson-Arce said they were able to move on and forward. By the time she married Mathew Arce last July, she and her ex were friends. In fact, they were so close that his mother -- meaning Thompson-Arce's ex-mother-in-law -- was a bridesmaid at the wedding!
But, soon after the wedding, the new couple got into a financial mess.
She had left a job, and as soon as she found another her 22-year-old husband was fired from his job.
They fell behind in rent.
The bills stacked up.
The credit card debt grew.
A couple months later, Arce landed a job at Wal-Mart but finances remained shaky and digging themselves out of debt seemed immpossible.
In walked her ex with an offer.
"I knew they were having money problems, so I just asked them to move in," he said. "I figured I'd get to see my girls, my daughters, more often. And Nicole said yes right away."
Besides the economic savings, the benefits are many.
No longer do they have to shuttle Victoria, 7, and Caitlyn, 6, between two households.
And as a team, they can both parent and be on the same page.
Finding a baby sitter is never a problemeither.
AND LISTEN TO THIS; They even take turns making meals, which they all share.
Thompson and Arce have become the best of friends.
They have tackled home improvement projects, run around together on days they both have off and often hang out at the kitchen table building plastic models.
"We just clicked," Thompson said. "When I tell people, 'I'm living with my ex-wife and her husband,' I get some really strange looks. ...It's different. It's unusual, but it works."
"There are so many families that go through divorce and can never let it go," she said. "I'm thankful, and hopefully our situation can help people rethink things because if they have kids, it's in their best interest to get along."
NOW, here comes the kicker kids!
The ex-husband hasn't dated since the divorce.
He said it's because he's been focused on work and taking care of the kids.
Thompson-Arce, however, said that she and her husband are forever trying to get Thompson hooked up with someone special.
I'm wondering........!
Husband #2 has got a sister........!
Do ya think........?
