My adopted home town of London, Ontario is about to make the news.
London may become one of the first cities in North America to stop selling bottled water in municipal buildings, hospitals, schools, YMCA's and any other non-private location.
City councillors voted last night to ban the sale of bottled water in all city-run buildings, arenas and community centres amid a growing backlash against the product.
The vote comes after heated debate in the municipality on the role of bottled water in city facilities.
Municipal officials have maintained that tap water costs about an eighth of a cent per litre while bottled water can range anywhere from 30 cents to $4 a bottle and there are no obvious health or environmental benefits.
As a mater of fact, a lot of bottled water is just tap water that has been filtered an extra time, and while I still drink from the tap, the "Ms. Herself" has been on a bottled water kick for a few years now and no amount of logical explanation or ranting on my part will convince her that the stuff out of the tap is just as good.
Boy, has she been brainwashed!
