Saturday Morning Confusion. OR, "Londontown!"

I was talking to someone on the phone this morning and I mentioned that lived in London....., to which the gentleman automatically assumed I was talking about London, England!

After correcting this common mistake I got to thinking about my home town and decided to clear up any confusion about where and what this place is!

As the map shows, London is situated right in the middle of Southwestern Ontario and is a city of about half a million right between Toronto and Detroit.

I love it here since London is about the same as Toronto was thirty years ago......., big enough for anything, but still small enough to be civilized! (Toronto is actually my home town, but I adopted London back in the seventies!)

The more I thought about this fair city the more it occurred to me that this was one of the best placed to live in the entire North American continent.

(O.K., a few places like Vancouver and San Francisco rate higher as good places to live and Toronto is still one of the most exciting cities to visit, but when you take everything into account I wouldn't change this place for any other!)

I started to look at some pictures of my adopted home town and I have to admit that I was impressed with this place.

I decided to start doing some travelogues with London as our first stop and hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I did!

First of all the location!

Storybook Gardens is famous around Ontario as a great place to take the family if you have little kids!

The University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College have a student population of more than 50,ooo.

"Western" is a world class business (MBA) and medical school, with one of the top transplant and neurological facilities to be found anywhere!
Lots of historic buildings and a neat skyline as well!

Our yearly "Rib Feast" draws thousands, as does the "Blues fest" and dozens of other attractions
World class hockey at the John Labatt center......., which also doubles as one of the "top ten" concert venue's in North America.

Summer also sees bus tours of the city with a decided "Brit" atmosphere!

Galleria is one of four major regional shopping centers!

Springbank Park and Fanshawe Pioneer Village are just two of the many parks that dot the "Forrest City!"

Downtown shopping and night life is "hip," "chic," "cool,' "trendy,' or any other adjective you would care to use!

And best of all, the view from out living room window in the summer and winter!
