Take your lumps!

Bernice Packford is 95 years old.

Other than the usual ailments that plague a person of this age there is not really too much wrong with her!

Oh, here eyesight and hearing are fading, and she has the usual aches and pains of someone who has been around for almost a century, but all in all she's in pretty good shape!

And she wants to die!

You see, Bernice is very afraid of having a stroke or some such malady, and being rendered incapable of taking care of herself!

As a pre-emptive strike, Bernice has decided she has lead a long and good life and wants to check out at a time and place of her own choosing!

The only problem is that she doesn't have the guts to do it herself, so she want us to do it for her!

What a dilemma!

Sure she should have a say in her own life....., but what is next?

Will we start getting rid of people simply because they are inconvenient or a burden to us?

Will we take it a step further and get rid of old people so we don't have to pay them old age pensions?

Will it get to the point where everyone who is over 30 and in danger of no longer being young and beautiful will get eliminated like in the movie "Logan's Run?"

No, sorry Bernice!

It won't fly lady!

Nobody said life was easy or fair, and ya don't get to bail because you want the easy way out!

Come back after you have had a stroke and can only sit in your wheelchair and drool.... then maybe we'll consider it!

Until then, take your lumps like the rest of us!
