Mark Dailey of Citytv dies of cancer.

Mark Dailey, Citytv's longtime news anchor and the much-revered voice of the station, (This is City TV.....EVERYWHERE!) died Monday afternoon after battling cancer.

Citytv reported that Mark Dailey died at Sunnybrook hospital. He was 57.

Mark announced in the fall that he was suffering from kidney cancer, which ultimately spread to his lungs.

Known for his baritone delivery, Dailey's voice was featured heavily in station promos and made him one of the most recognizable broadcast personalities in Toronto.

Born in Ohio on Aug. 1, 1953, Dailey worked as a police officer there before taking up journalism.

(I worked with Mark briefly at CKLW in Windsor/Detroit in the early 70's, and not only liked him, but had great respect for him as a journalist!)

Mark joined CityPulse TV in 1979, where he produced and assigned news stories, the station said.

In September, he revealed on air that he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Kim, and his daughter, Nicole.
