Multiple crashes along highways 401 and 402 are causing early holiday chaos for drivers in southern Ontario this morning.
In Lambton County, the Ontario Provincial Police warned drivers to slow down after numerous vehicles slid off a road. Two of those crashes involved rollovers, but there were no injuries.
Police said seven of the crashes were on Hwy. 402, the same stretch where hundreds of drivers were stranded during a blinding whiteout last week.
Freezing drizzle has been falling in the area, with a film of ice covering some roads that simply appear wet.
Your fearless author has to make that 100 km trek to Sarnia this afternoon to spend Christmas with my dear old mother, but hopefully the roads will be clear by then!
Police, fire and ambulance crews also responded to early morning crashes on the 401 near London. Drivers were asked to slow down for their own safety and for the safety of emergency crews.
Merry Christmas everyone! This is winter in Canada!
