RAWDON, Que. – A violent blaze in Rawdon, Que., on Tuesday night almost burned the town’s fire hall to the ground.
The town's fire department was forced to call in firefighters from nearby districts to help battle the flames. The town is located about 75 km north of Montreal.
Rawdon firefighters were left with little equipment of their own – even the fire trucks were trapped in the burning building. They eventually managed to safely drive the vehicles out of the still-burning fire hall.
The blaze started just before 9 p.m. About 40 firefighters fought the blaze, which burned long into the night.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
