Storm turns deadly!

Even though 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the U.S, border, and the residents of Windsor, Ontario actually live south of Detroit, Michigan, we sometimes forget that Canada is a northern country!

Sure, the vast majority of us live in cities, and our only concern is getting stuck in rush hour traffic, but one thing we should always keep in mind!

This isn't Florida or California folks!

As witnessed by this story, once you get outside of a city and into the rural areas, you might as well be 500 miles in the bush if you get stuck!

The storm that closed a southwestern Ontario highway this week has claimed at least one victim.

The body of a 41-year-old man was found in a field on a rural road near Ridgetown, Ont., only 50 metres away from his vehicle, which was stuck in a snow drift.

We had fears for the people stuck on Hwy #402 for two days, but they were being looked after by the authorities. It was this lone driver who got into trouble in the middle of nowhere that paid the ultimate price for his bad luck, and this can happen to each and every one of us at any time.

Let this be a reminder to take a survival kit with us in the car whenever we go out in the winter, and above all, carry a CELL PHONE!!
