Fired Raelians discriminated against: tribunal.

Here it is Sunday afternoon again, and time or our "Perspective Religious News Roundup!"

There is a religious cult from Quebec called 'The Raelians" who claim to be descendants of Aliens, and clone their own members to keep the group 'pure!"

(They also have a very liberal attitude towards sex which keeps Founder Claude Vorilhon  horny and happy!)

These people are also rather resourceful in their endeavours, since they operate a training firm called the Academy of Pleasurology and Emotional Intelligence, and got a contract with a Northern Ontario School Board to provide teacher training.

Seems they were hired by the board in November 2006 to provide "emotional pedagogy " training sessions for its teaching personnel.

Now before you go off on a tangent about "what the hell is emotional pedagogy," maybe ya had better read the 'rest of the story!'

NORTH BAY, Ont. - A northern Ontario French Catholic school board discriminated against three members of the Raelian religious sect when it cancelled a contract with them to provide teacher training, a human rights tribunal has ruled.

The decision by the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal finds Conseil Scolaire Catholique Franco-Nord acted discriminatory when it opted to end a contract with Daniel, Michel and Sylvie Chabot after discovering their involvement with the Raelians.

The Chabots filed a complaint which led to mediation and eventually a request for a determination by the tribunal as to whether the human rights code was violated.

The ruling indicates there was discrimination based on their beliefs.

“As soon as they discovered that our religion is different from theirs, they decided to end the contracts,” said Chabot, who explained a participant in one of the training sessions went to the board with information about his religious background and that of his siblings.
(In a statement released shortly after the Dec. 10 ruling, Chabot said the religious group has filed dozens of humans right complaints in Ontario and Quebec, most of which were rejected.)

He said the ruling is “very important” for both the Raelian movement and human rights in Ontario.

So bunky, it looks like the Chabot's will get their teaching jobs back aftrer all!

The only thing left to do now is decide who is crazier........ The Railians for trying to teach "emotional pedagogy, " or the School Board for hiring them in the first place!
