NOTE; We here at Perspective sometimes inject a little satire into stories that are featured on our pages, and I hope that you, dear readers, will realize this when it happens.
THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE TIMES, FOLKS!
An officer with the RCMP is implying it’s wrong to arrest Muslims on Ramadan, even if they’re suspected of planning terrorism at home and abroad.
------------------------------------------------------------------
It was announced Wednesday that a day after three Ottawa Muslim men were arrested last August on suspicion of terrorism, community outreach officer Cpl. Wayne Russett ordered emergency meetings, running around the city “actively engaging the local Muslim communities” to apologize that the arrests were made during Ramadan.
Is this a joke? And if not, I hope the senior officers responsible are going to be put on extended leave without pay while Parliament investigates this intent at obstruction of justice.
It’s shocking that the apology sessions were labelled an emergency. The only emergency was the terror suspects. And we need to arrest them no matter who they are, where they are and what they are doing lest their suspected plans come to fruition.
And if that isn’t ludicrous enough, Cpl. Russett said there would be no food or drink at the meetings “to show our support to our Muslim brothers and sisters during Ramadan.” His ‘brothers and sisters’? So he’s either related to them or he’s one of those whiteys who likes to go up to respectable black men and say ‘What up, dawg?’ in the hopes of getting down with the brothers — which is ludicrously demeaning, turning minorities into TV stereotypes.
What many civil servants don’t seem to understand is that the whole point of equality before the law is that we don’t treat people differently based on who or what they are. Police must respect the rights of everyone equally, which is why people get rightfully peeved at the injustice of racial profiling.
But what the RCMP is now telling us is that Muslims will be treated with kid gloves during Ramadan — which is for a whole month! So the message is out: If you’re Muslim and considering committing a crime, do it during the month of Ramadan.
There should be nothing offensive to a Muslim about one of their kin being arrested during their religious holidays. What should be offensive to them is that one of their kin may have planned a terrorist attack during those holy days.
And why would some random Muslim be upset if some other random Muslim is arrested during Ramadan? I don’t care what day the other non-religious straight white males are arrested on.
If you think Bob’s committing a crime go and get him on Christmas Day, get him at his daughter’s high school graduation, get him while he’s sitting on the can — just go and get him before someone gets hurt.
It’s shameful that the very people hired to protect us are the ones who are putting in place protocols that endanger us. Parliament needs to review RCMP policies to guarantee that political correctness is not standing in the way of crime prevention.
What we need is equality. No preferential treatment. No racial profiling. No turning a blind eye to religion.
I’m just glad to see prominent Muslims already speaking out against this, like respected media personality Tarek Fatah, who said such officers “unwittingly perform the role of useful idiots” to the gain of terrorists’ plots.
It’s not law-biding, tax-paying Muslims who understand that religion is what you do in the private sphere that we have to worry about. It’s bleeding-heart white men who are so afraid of being labelled Islamophobic or racist that they indirectly tarnish the reputations of those good Muslims by giving the bad ones a get-out-of-jail-free card.

This crap about letting minority groups dictate to the majority in this country has GOT TO STOP!
I don't care if it's Sihk's wearing turbans with their Mountie uniforms, Muslim women wearing a full Burka that covers them from head to foot with only a slit to see out of, (and this isn't even a religious requirement, it's cultural!) or Christmas being banned while Ramadam is considered a big deal..................................., it has to STOP!
If someone who is not in the Mounties wants to wear a turban, or a Arab wants to wear those long flowing dessert robes, or my In-Laws want to wear those stupid Kilts with nothing on underneath, that's their right to do so!
BUT, the moment the majority has to start making sacrifices to accommodate these minorities is the moment when the line has been crossed.
One of the best examples of this was yesterday when a guy from Iraq, who was living in the States, killed his daughter because she was becoming too "Western!"
If the son-of-a-bitch didn't want his daughter to become "Western," he should have stayed in Iraq!
End of story!
