They knew they had to learn English, learn the law of the land, fit
in with local customs, not make waves, respect other people and customs,
and above all …………….. don’t cause trouble!
This stuff was a no-brainer kids.
It’s like that old saying: “You don’t bite the hand that feeds you” OR “Ya don’t shit where you eat!”
Nothing hard of complicated boys and girls, fit in, and keep your nose clean.
Over the last fifty years or so something has happened that I don’t like or appreciate in the slightest.
Our attitudes and values have changed ……………. and not for the better.
Now-a-days we see not only new immigrants to this country, but our own youth developing a truly selfish attitude where no one wants to know about responsibilities anymore, they just want to know what their RIGHTS are!
Respect for others has been replaced with a sense of entitlement, and I am afraid our society is sliding down a long slippery slope that is helped along by an ill wind that blows no good!
And the only people that are happy about that are no good! (no pun intended ;>)
