Damn the Torpedoes

Dear Friends: As any Liberal (read: left wing) government knows it is their duty to promote and champion the left wing agenda of equal rights, equality for women, pay equity, global warming, the ethical treatment of animals, environmental protection, political correctness, protecting baby seals and any other noble, refined and/or fashionable causes that are currently making the rounds.

Now don't get me wrong, these ideals are laudable and exemplary, but there have been a few times when the Trudeau Liberals have been a little too exuberant in their pursuit of these objectives and every time it has caused us grief!

In other words Justin Trudeau wants everyone on board with his sunny ways agenda. If any Canadian organization wants to receive government funds they’ll have to sign an attestation that “both the job and the organization’s core mandate respect individual human rights in Canada, including … reproductive rights and the right to be free from discrimination on the basis of sex, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, mental or physical disability or sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression.

Now this is all well and fine within Canada folks, (within limits) but once we start to push our agenda on other countries a little common sense is called for because the backlash can be quite painful at times.

The latest example of this is the reaction from Saudi Arabia when Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said "We are always going to speak up for human rights, we are always going to speak up for women's rights and that is not going to change." (Freeland's comments come a day after Saudi Arabia made the decision in retaliation to a Global Affairs tweet that "Canada is gravely concerned about additional arrests of civil society and women's rights activists in Saudi Arabia, including Samar Badawi. We urge the Saudi authorities to immediately release them and all other peaceful human rights activists.")

Freeland said Canadians "expect" its foreign policy to be driven by Canadian values. Ottawa will wait to hear more details from Saudi Arabia before responding to that country's decision to freeze new trade deals and expel Canada's ambassador for comments she made about what the Saudi's consider an internal affair, and while she defended Canada's position, insisting Ottawa will always stand up for human rights, this is not the first time the Liberals have ended up with egg on their face and shit on their shoes!

Speaking to reporters in Vancouver on Monday, Freeland said Canada is "very comfortable" with its position that led to the new measures announced by Saudi Arabia.

Canada 'not an important country' for Saudi Arabia

"There is a clear, uniquely Saudi dimension to this in the sense that in the last three years, Saudi Arabia has been behaving very aggressively and assertively in the Middle East," Thomas Juneau, a  professor at the University of Ottawa said, noting the blockade of Qatar and the war in Yemen.

"For Saudi Arabia to punish Canada, it's fairly easy because we're not an important country for them, either are they for us," he said, adding that it does send a message to others that it will not accept criticism. (It sends a strong message to not only European countries but also countries in the Middle East not to "mess" with Saudi Arabia, Juneau said.)

Now my wife; "The Mrs. Herself" spent three years living in Saudi Arabia, and from what she told me about the conditions over there with regards to human rights, equality for women etc. etc. this should have put the Canadian government on alert not to push too far or too fast with a population that is in many respects still living in the twelfth century, but as usual the Trudeau government took the position "damned the torpedoes, full steam ahead!"

The way I see it anyway!

Now you have to realize that this statement is all bullshit and bluster kids, but just the same they're trying to make a point and Canada is easy pickin's!
