If you watch a documentary about Trump's life on Netflix called “Trump: An American Dream,” and do some basic research on him, it is easy to draw a broad conclusion that Trump is, simply put, not smart.
He was born into a very wealthy family with pretty much everything and more than what an average person could ask for. Throughout his life, he has had everything done for, or given to him. He inherited all his wealth and money and at times, put it to use to start his own companies (which failed disastrously because of lack of business management skills). His dad paid his way through school, and Trump never had to go out of his way to work for or learn anything. Consequently, because of their wealth, his parents never felt the need to challenge Donald Trump in any way.
Because of that, he never really had to interact with people and communities that are completely different from those in which he grew up. He was never intellectually challenged and has lived his whole life in a bubble.
That is why he talks and constructs sentences like a first-grader because he is simply not smart. And frankly, I do not blame him for not being smart. Unlike most of the rest of us who have to work hard to get at least somewhere, Trump never had to challenge himself, intellectually or otherwise, and work hard towards anything. All his life, he has automatically gotten what he wanted so he is not used to other people challenging him or his claims. So now, for the first time, when he is not getting what he wants, he throws tantrums to persuade others to think that he is right. It seems like he never grew up, intellectually, past the age of 5.
