Dear Friends:
Closer to home I am getting a lot of mail wondering what the beef is with B.C. pipelines and the Indians...... so it's about time we shed a little light on the subject!
The Wet'suwet'en band councils are the elected leaders of the various tribes and they negotiated a deal where they let the pipeline go through and they get money and jobs etc, etc..........!
Meanwhile, the Hereditary Chiefs are not elected by anyone and they claim authority because their title was handed down from father to son...... and pre-dates colonization......... so like the Muslim's they claim their authority is hereditary and they are the true representative of the Indian people...... not those elected guys!
Now, where we have a problem is the band councils negotiated a lucrative deal with the pipeline companies on behalf of all the natives...... while the Hereditary Chiefs were not consulted..... and didn't get any say in the matter. (Or loot!)
To further complicate matters there are hundreds, if not thousands of "entitled" millennials who have taken up the cause....... because it's something for them to do!!!!!! (Ya get bored really quick when you don't have a job.)
Meanwhile, the rest of us are not only inconvenienced...... but the Canadian economy is taking a shit-kicking as well!
The way I see it anyway!
Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs from left, Rob Alfred, John Ridsdale, centre and Antoinette Austin, who oppose the Coastal Gaslink pipeline take part in a rally in Smithers B.C.,
