Dear Friends:
With all the protest and outrage over police conduct in the United States, I believe we have come up with a solution that would be agreeable to everyone.
After extensive study, we believe that law enforcement should be based on the same principle under which we operate the health care system here in Ontario.
There are different categories and pay scales for the various services, and it also defines the duties of each level of care.
First, let us look at the different types of health care:
1. PSW: Personal Support Worker - basic care for the elderly and infirm.
2. RNA: Registered Nurses Assitant - Self-explanatory.
3. RN: Registered Nurse - Traditional nursing role.
4. Nurse Practitioner: - A recent category that requires a higher degree of education and experience to the point where they can even write prescriptions.
5. Intern: - A doctor in training.
6. GP: General Practitioner: - Typical family doctor.
7. Specialist: -Often referred to by a G.P.
8. Surgeon: The person with a scalpal in their hands and a glint in their eyes!
Now, let's have a look at where the cops should be.
Police, the officers representing the civil authority of government.
Police typically are responsible for maintaining public order and safety, enforcing the law, and preventing, detecting, and investigating criminal activities. These functions are known as policing.
1. Parking and by-law enforcement.
2. Fish and game wardens.
3. Border Patrol and Transit and railroad officers.
4. Accident investigators.
5. Uniformed officers. General Uniformed Officers should carry a nightstick and a stun gun, but no firearms.
***
6. State police and highway patrol officers.
7. Detectives.
8. Special jurisdiction police. (Narcotics, SWAT etc.)
Cops 1 thru 5 should not carry any guns since they are peacekeepers, not troublemakers.
Just as the health care providers there would be different pay scales and qualifications required for each category.
The way I see it anyway! (Taken from my blog: "Allan's Perspective!")
