Dear Friends:
Just north of here on the shores of Lake Huron in Grand Bend is a zoo that was known for years as the Pinery Zoo and now the Roaring Cats Retreat.
Although I have never been there myself I have heard of it over the years, so it was with a bit of a surprise to me, and a really BIG surprise to the new owners, that Grand Bend council has ordered them to get rid of the animals!
It seems the expectations were that the big cats would be 'grandfathered' in for the new owners but that was not to be..... so the zoo has now gone the way of the Bowmanville Zoo..... and that place up on highway 7 toward Ottawa that had a couple of brown bears in cages.
Now don't get me wrong kids, your politically correct [sic] author is glad we are doing away with things like circuses of all shapes and sizes but I can't help but wonder what they are going to do with the animals at the Pinery Zoo?
Since its right next to the Pinery Provincial Park perhaps they could just let them live there?
Besides that would be an added attraction for the overnight campers!
The way I see it anyway!
