Saturday morning Confusion! #3 1/2

All my life I have been fascinated with facts and figures and maps and charts and diagrams....., and lists of all sorts and sizes.

It makes me think I would have made a good actuary, which is one of those guys who assembles statistics for life insurance companies.

I don't understand why this has such a fascination for me, and by all accounts this stuff should be something I run away from since I am severely A.D.H.D.

But just the same I can spend hours comparing things or taking a trip on a map. (This is why "Google Earth" is the greatest invention in the history of mankind!)

Looking over some stuff this morning I can across a "StatsCan" list of time taken off by Federal employee's during the course of a year...... and guess what kids???????

It seems that if you work for the Federal Government you get 15 days of sick leave per year.

You also get 5 family-related days per year (not cumulative) to stay home and take care of sick family members.

Now if these figures are to be believed, most people take 19.3 of their 20 days off each year, which led a union rep to state that it was a good thing there were provisions for this sort of thing otherwise most people would be out almost three weeks of pay every year!

(Now a statement like this is a bunch of crap since we all know if ya got sick days coming........... you're gonna find a way to take 'em, aren't ya there buddy boy! We all know that it's not a case of puking or playing possum since the system is there to be abused, and what the hell, everybody else does it. I have even heard accounts of people saving up their sick days for their entire working life, and then retiring a couple of years early with the accumulated sick days making up the difference!)

Getting back to the point of this article, (There's that ADHD again, I just can't stay on subject!) it amazes me how the union guy could say that it was luck they had the twenty days sick leave a year when we all know that if those S.O.B.'s had 50 days, then they would just happen to be sick for that amount of time each year!
