Your article has a good basis to the facts but I think you've been misled to some of the truths.
Ipperwash park was NOT taken from the natives.
The army camp was. That was two different entities altogether.
The army base should have been given back ages ago.The natives rightfully owned it.
The government dragged it's feet on returning it and the natives occupied it.
This was prior to Ipperwash and has since been given back.
The natives occupied the provincial park using the excuse that it was a "sacred burial ground"
The natives had relinquished this land years ago. It was bought and paid for by the Ontario government.
In my opinion the occupation went so well at the army base that they decided to bully the government by occupying the park.
After Dudley was killed, there was too much pressure on the government/police to do anything in future occupations.... who knows where and how this will pan out in the future.
All the while, the white man is paying dearly for it.
Again!
(While I appreciate the info and a more detailed and accurate summary of the facts, I wish people would sign their names to this stuff. Of course this guy might live in Port Franks or Ravenswood, [right next to the reserve] so I can understand his reluctance to give out his identity. Don't forget, those Indians have got guns!)
