Remember on Saturday when I said that Republican National Commitee chairman Michael Steele said that the war in Afghanistan was started by Obama and the States had to get out of there? (You must remember because it was only two days ago! That is, unless you have a memory like mine! But I digress!)
Well kids, he's done it again over the weekend!
Got this juicy bit of information from Ted McLaughlin today!
One gets the feeling that Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele doesn't spend much time in the vicinity of the truth. I'm not sure whether he just doesn't care about the truth or whether he's just too stupid to know the truth. Either way, it certainly doesn't bother him to say anything he wants (mainly falsehoods) to try and make Republican policies look better than they really are.Looking at these numbers, it is amazing to me that anyone (especially someone as high up as the chair of the RNC) could suggest a return to the policies of the Bush administration would be anything other than disastrous.
Steele appeared on CNBC yesterday morning bashing President Obama's efforts at job creation. He told the interviewer that we need to return to the policies of George Bush because, "George Bush created a lot of jobs." That was an outrageous lie.
In the last month of Bush's administration, the Wall Street Journal (certainly no liberal media source) printed a story saying the Bush administration had created only 1 million jobs during his two terms in office. That is pitiful when compared to the last two Democrats in office. Carter created 10.5 million jobs in only one term in office, and Clinton created a whopping 23 million jobs during his years in office.
Making Bush look even worse is the fact that President Obama is on-target to produce more than 1 million jobs just in 2010. Add this to the fact that the Bush policies contributed to the largest recession since the Great Depression, and you have the perfect picture of absolute incompetence in economic affairs. Just in his last four months in office George Bush lost more than 2 million jobs for this country.
It is ludicrous that Republicans hold thenselves up as better guardians of the economy than Democrats.
Democratic policies may not be the best for the rich bankers of Wall Street, but they produce a whole lot more jobs for the people on Main Street -- and that's what that country needs right now.
And the last thing it needs is anything to do with the way Bush did things!
As a matter of fact, if Obama cured every disease known to man, personally captured Osama bin Laden, turned the economy round, talked Wall Street into apologizing to the country and submitted itself to strict regulation, ended the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Republican Party started telling the truth and threw it's support behind Health Reform, 10s of millions of voters would still be calling Obama a Muslim, still demanding to see his birth certificate and still wanting their country back.
Republican politicians lie because it's what they do best......., but there are all sorts of idiots who would vote for them regardless dispite the fact that since the New Deal, Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue of concern to ordinary Americans; Social Security, the war in Vietnam, equal rights, civil liberties, church- state separation, consumer issues, public education, reproductive freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign-finance reform, the environment and tax fairness.The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people in favor of plutocratic and corporate interests, and absolutist religious groups.
No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident.

No. They don't. The Dems and GOP are one in the same Allan. If they weren't then Obama would never have kept Bernanke on as chairman of the fed.
You have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

No reason to get personal.................., asshole!

I didn't mean to offend Allan but if you cannot see how both parties routinely do things that are counterproductive to the prosperity of this nation and it's citizens than you're part of the problem, not the solution.
I have no use for anyone whose thought process doesn't go further than "Dems good Republicans bad" or vice versa.

Just another piece of evidence that disproves your sentiment that Democrats create more jobs Allan............
Every administration since LBJ has experienced a net loss of manufacturing jobs in this nation. LBJ, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr. Clinton, Bush Jr. Democrats and Republicans..............They have all walked out the door with us having less manufacturing jobs than when they walked in. It just proves that both parties over the last 40 years have been pissing away our manufacturing jobs and as a result, our prosperity.
The one man people took halfway seriously that tried to warn us was Ross Perot in 1992. Remember what he said about NAFTA? He said you're gonna hear a giant sucking sound which will be all our jobs headed south. Damned if he wasn't right.
I could go on and on and on citing examples of how both parties have behaved in similarly destructive ways but I know all most people want to do is pick a side, D or R and claim their side has all the answers while the other side is evil. Thinking like that pervades our society and unless it is stopped, we are all royally screwed.

Just another way of twisting the truth bunky. Sure we lost manufactureing jobs to third world coutries....., but gained jobs overall, including many high paying tech jobs, so don't just pick and chose what suits your argument!

Look all poloticians are liars. We've been promised lower taxes and all they do is go up. And you know what great job for giving more jobs to people on main street. What about the lower people. I haven't been able to find a job in 8 months. I have a house hold to run and a husband to feed. How can I do this with one income? Help me see where either president has helped people. And I don't care about main street or wall street. What about the little people suffering from the consequences of not just our president's but our whole government's actions.

Dear Taken; Your case is unfortunate and I sympathise, but your situation only applies to yourself dear lady, not the population as a whole. We have to look at the overall picture to get a true snapshot, but unfortunately in your case when you're up to your ass in alligators it's sometimes hard to remember that the original intention was to drain the swamp!
FBO said;
Are you kidding Allan? I'm not twisting the truth, merely presenting it. You cite all the high tech jobs we have. When's the last time you called a computer company for support? Did you speak to an American on the other end of the line? The amount of jobs we've lost in the IT/tech sector particularly in support and programming, has been phenomenal.
Also, do you not see the value of manufacturing jobs? When we make products for the rest of the world to buy we make money. When we make nothing and just buy other nations' goods we become nothing but consumers driving themselves into debt. It's a pretty simple concept and I don't see how you can gloss over the loss of our manufacturing jobs so lightly.
Lastly......I am fully aware that economies take a long time to recover and get better but Obama has been in office for a year and a half now with a Democrat Congress and I'm not even seeing small signs that things are going to get better. All signs, especially unemployment, point to things getting worse.
have you ever even considered voting third party Allan? Haven't you ever listened to the leaders of both parties at least once in your life and said "gee these guys are pretty much saying the same useless politically correct bullcrap?"
We all need to start thinking outside the box. Just ask me Allan, I'm no partisan hack. I'll tell you how both Bush and Obama were horrible for this nation.
Taken by the Guy I Love said;
I agree. And sorry I'm not the only one not able to get a job. pay attention lay off's are going up not down.
Allan Janssen said;
Unfortunately, here is Canada the third option if the New Democratic Party and these hacks are 100% socialists...., and it will be a cold day in hell before they get my vote.
We do have an advantage in that both the left and right wing here in Canada are more middle of the road than either the Republicans or Democrats in the States.
