I was listening to a story about Bollywood this morning and I heard the announcer say that just about everyone in India speaks English, even though Hindi is the national language.
This got me thinking that if you took the population of India, The United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and everywhere else that teaches “English as a Second Language” you would have about 1 1/2 to 2 BILLION people on the planet that had a working knowledge of OUR native tongue.
Now I am sure this is more than Chinese or any other language by a country mile, (not a kilometer) plus the official language of science, aviation, and a whole bunch of other stuff is English as well, so I can’t think of any reason not to make English the language that everyone should learn as a second means of communicating. (One of the pluses of this, as well, would be to piss off the French!)
SO!
Starting in September, everyone has to learn English as a Second Language!!!!!!
