Dear Readers:
Quebec's language police have ordered a small business owner in the Gatineau region to stop making posts to Facebook in English.
Eva Cooper is the owner of a fashion boutique named Delilah in the Parc in Chelsea, Quebec, which has a sister store in Ottawa.
Both stores have their own Facebook pages, and last week the Office de la langue francaise sent Cooper a letter saying her Quebec store's page could no longer make posts solely in English.

Those poor Palestinians haven't been able to catch a break in the Middle-East for God knows how long now!
The latest report of their plight comes from Syria:
A top United Nations official renewed demands to allow medicine and food to be distributed without restrictions inside an unofficial refugee camp in Damascus, Syria, where as many as 18,000 Palestinian refugees have been trapped since July, besieged by the country's 3-year-old civil war.
"I am deeply disturbed and shaken by what I observed today," Filippo Grandi, commissioner-general for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in a statement from Beirut after returning from Yarmouk Camp, a suburb of Damascus eight miles south of its center. "The Palestine refugees with whom I spoke were traumatized by what they have lived through, and many were in evident need of immediate support, particularly food and medical treatment."

The oil brought into the United States from Canada via the proposed Keystone XL pipeline would jeopardize the health of Americans, two U.S. senators said Wednesday as they called for a public health impact study.
Senator Barbara Boxer, a Democrat representing California, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, held a news conference in Washington along with Dr. John O’Connor, an Alberta physician.

Newly released photos taken from the International Space Station last month reveal just how energy bankrupt North Korea has become. The photos, and a time-lapse video of the region, show the country as almost completely black, in contrast to the bright lights of neighbors like South Korea and Japan. (See related, "North Korea: Nuclear Ambition, Power Shortage.")
In South Korea, each person consumes 10,162 kilowatt hours of power a year. North Koreans each use just 739. Other than several small spots of light, including the brightly illuminated capital of Pyongyang, the country just about blends in with the surrounding black ocean.
