It was a warm summer night many years ago that my best friend Wayne and I were driving around downtown Toronto on some sort of a mission (I can't remember what it was!) when we spotted a hooker standing on the corner of Jarvis and Wellesley St. (There was an old joke going around when I was even younger that said they were going to change the name of Jarvis St. to Dominion St because ......, "it was mainly because of the meat!" But I digress.)
Anyway, back to the story, I said to Wayne: "That girl looks like she needs a ride, or is waiting for a ride!"
Wayne sort of nodded agreement, and that's when I had an epiphany and blurted out: "Pull over in front of her!"
I rolled down my window and said "hi" to the girl and asked her if she was waiting for a ride!
When she "yes" I said: "Well hop right in, we're happy to oblige!" As she settled in the back seat I asked her where she was going, and was informed that it didn't really matter to her, but as she sat there in the back seat she said to me: "You know your friend looks like a cop?" (He was!)
I looked at Wayne for a long time and then whispered to her: "You know, I think you're right!"
We then proceeded to mess with her head for another few minutes by asking her some ordinary stuff like where she worked, etc., until we finally arrived at the the corner of Bay and Bloor, where, by this time, she didn't know what to say or to think ....., so she got out! (She probably thought she "escaped!")
As we drove away laughing I could see her looking after us and wondering what the hell has just happened. (I never did ask Wayne if he thought the whole thing was funny ..............., but as far as I was concerned it was hilarious!!!!!!)
