Dear Friends: There is a quote, popularized by Mark Twain, that goes like this: Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.
One of the great mysteries of American politics is not only how Donald Drumpf manages to stay on as President of the United States since he should be in jail for all the shit he has caused over the past couple of years, but how approval ratings are tossed around like the guy is a saint and the best thing since sliced bread! (LOCK HIM UP! Actually he should have been locked up years ago since he is a psychopath, pathological liar, narcissist, con man and just plain asshole who has wreaked havoc wherever he goes!)
But, what amazes me most is how people use opinion polls to falsely justify a lot of the stuff Drumpf has done......., even though what they claim is total bullshit!
Let's look at the American population in general and we find that about 25% of the people are what we can kindly call idiots, morons, sicko's and religious nuts. About 50% of the population are within the range of what we call "normal" citizens who live their lives about the same as you and me......, and the last 25% are those who are among the decision makers and the movers and shakers of society. (I have also heard these percentages described as being 1/3, 1/3 and 1/3, but let's not quibble about numbers!)
NOW, Don the Con Trumplethinskin's approval ratings are quoted as being around 80% of Republicans and about 35 - 40% of everybody in general, but these figures are highly suspect since that 80% among Republicans is an outright lie, (just like all the other lies they tell) and the 35 -40% approval is actually for people who voted, not the entire population as a whole!
If you went for Trump supporters among the entire population you would end up with less than 25%............., who we have already established are the idiots, morons, sicko's and religious nuts we talked about at the start of this post!
When you look at it that way things seem to make a lot more sense!
