Dear Friends: As we all know Saudi Arabia is a desert kingdom with a bunch of nomads riding around on camels and a whole bunch of oil sitting there under the sand. (Basically this means that a bunch of twelfth century nomads have more money here in the twenty first century than they know what to do with!)
It was ruled by King Salman, but he got too old and decrepit, so his son Prince Mohammed bin Salman took over...... and let all the power and money go to his head.
First he started a war with Yemen and another unofficial war with Qatar for reasons still unknown, and then he kidnapped the Prime Minister of Lebanon and held him captive for a week, then rounded up a bunch of businessmen and Saudi Princes (cousins) under the guise of anti-corruption and held them in detention for a few weeks to let them know who was the boss.
Then MBS (that's his nick-name) took umbrage at Justin Trudeau (Prime Minister of Canada) criticizing Saudi Arabia's human rights record and cut off diplomatic relations with us, kicked out our Ambassador, cancelled all flights between Saudi and Canada, and recalled all university students studying at our institutions of higher learning! (Mostly doctors)
BUT!
Now he has gone too far since he pissed off some of the big boys on the block last week!
MBS had an American journalist killed and his body cut up by a Saudi hit squad at a consulate in Turkey, and now the Americans and Europeans are up in arms (and legs and feet and hands)...... and the shit's about to hit the fan kids.
Should be interesting to see how this whole thing shakes out. (By the way........, did I mention that Drumpf is glad something is taking the attention away from him!)
