I’m not an expert on this..... but here are some that come to mind:

• Maoś Cultural Revolution that purged “stinking intellectuals”
• Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge - if you wore glasses you were an intellectual, and were killed
• Catholic church’s opposition to Galileo and anyone else who challenged doctrine, facts be damned
• Catholic church’s opposition to translations of the bible, and the printing press in general, lest people challenge the bullshit they were told in church
• American evangelicals challenging evolution in particular and science in general
• Boko Haram in Nigeria and obscurantist Islamic factions in general. To think that once the leading mathematicians, astronomers, and doctors in the western world were muslim.
