It’s a question that we’ve all discussed right here on Hotel Check-In about a year ago. We talked about rather mundane rituals such as unpacking, inspecting the view and checking if the toilet’s clean – but apparently I failed to report the whole story!
Citing a new survey of Canadian hotel guests by online travel seller Hotels.com, the Australian newspaper says that 19% of male guests say they grab the TV remote and search for porn.
Who knew? (What’s a little funny is that hotel pay-per-view porn revenues have been declining for years, so maybe these folks check – but they don’t buy!)
What about women?
As for the ladies in the house, the survey shows that the first thing that most of us when we get in our rooms is inspect the toiletries. That’s right – shampoo, soap, conditioner.
However, we’re not all strictly obsessed with beauty products. The story says that “15% of women say they too take a peek at the adult entertainment.”
Other hotel rituals favored by men and women, and cited in the Australian article:
Jumping on the bed – 13% men, 16% women
Standing in front of the window and staring at the room’s view – 57% men, 54% women
